Cystagon

Cystagon, also known by its generic name cysteamine bitartrate, is a prescription medication that is used to treat kidney damage that is caused by a condition called cystinosis. This condition leads to the buildup of the amino acid cystine in various organs including the kidneys, liver, eyes, muscles, pancreas, and brain. Some common side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and skin rashes. Your healthcare provider will carefully consider the tradeoff between the benefits of the drug and any potential side effects.
